The volunteer Coastguard Rescue Service provides the UK’s coastal search and rescue capability and as part of Her Majesty’s Coastguard it can operate separately or jointly with other emergency services and volunteer rescue organisations. It consists of teams of volunteers (Coastguard Rescue Teams), drawn from the local community, which are fully trained and equipped to carry out search and rescue operations around the coast of the UK.
The Isle of Arran Coastguard Rescue team is a volunteer branch of the Search and Rescue arm of the UK's Maritime and Coastguard Agency operating through Her Majesty's Coastguard based at Greenock. We cover an area of some 60 miles around Arran's coastline.
We co-ordinate with other rescue services such as the RNLI, Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance and Arran Mountain Rescue team.
We are a team of , most of whom have full time jobs, but are ready to be called out day and night to help search, locate and rescue people....
We have published details on the website of safety information, links to other services and information, our team and incidents (known as 'shouts') we have attended.
We are always looking for volunteers and if you would like more information please don't hesitate to look at the information sheet or contact one of our current team members.
You receive full training and support and we welcome both men and women!!
It's a great 'family'!
